Saïd Benrahma brace sinks Djamel Belmadi’s Al-Duhail as Neom win 3-0
Saïd Benrahma enjoyed a night to remember on Tuesday 3 November. The Algeria international scored twice as Saudi side Neom beat Qatar’s Al-Duhail 3-0 in Tabuk, in the third round of group games in the Gulf Club Champions League, the regional club competition for teams from the Gulf states.
There was an extra storyline in the dugout: Al-Duhail are coached by Djamel Belmadi, the former boss of the Desert Foxes, as Algeria’s national team is known, who returned to the Qatari club in June 2025.
Fast start, strong finish
Benrahma put Neom ahead inside the opening five minutes, and the hosts added a second before the quarter-hour mark. The Algerian winger then wrapped up the win with his second goal in the closing minutes.
The former West Ham and Lyon forward joined Neom in 2025, initially on loan from Lyon before the move was made permanent.
- Score: Neom 3-0 Al-Duhail
- Algerian scorer: Saïd Benrahma (2 goals)
- Competition: Gulf Club Champions League, Group A, matchday 3

What’s next?
Neom, Al-Duhail and the rest of Group A move on to matchday 4 of the group stage. On the international front, the November window is approaching, and Algeria’s next squad list will show whether Benrahma’s form earns him a place.
