Hadj Moussa tries his luck but Inter sweep Feyenoord aside in the Champions League

It was a tough night in Rotterdam for Anis Hadj Moussa. The Algeria international started on the right wing for Feyenoord, but could not prevent a heavy 3-0 home defeat by Inter Milan at De Kuip on Tuesday 3 November, in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase.

Inter took control early. Yann Bisseck opened the scoring after eight minutes and Pio Esposito doubled the lead on 34 minutes. Piotr Zieliński then settled the contest nine minutes into the second half, in the 54th minute.

Feyenoord’s main outlet before the break

In a game the Italians largely dictated, the Paris-born winger, who plays his international football for the Desert Foxes, as Algeria’s national team is known, was Feyenoord’s most dangerous attacker in the first half. He got the better of Federico Dimarco on one occasion, only for goalkeeper Josep Martínez to block his shot from a tight angle. He was unable to find the net.

  • Score: Feyenoord 0-3 Inter Milan
  • Scorers: Bisseck (8′), Esposito (34′), Zieliński (54′)
  • Feyenoord’s position: 30th of 36, on 3 points

What’s next?

On three points, Feyenoord sit well outside the top 24, the places that keep a club in the competition beyond the league phase. They have four league-phase games left, against FC Porto, Viking, Galatasaray and RB Leipzig. First up is a trip to Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, the Dutch top flight, on Sunday. On the international front, Algeria coach Brahim Hemdani is due to name his squad on Thursday for a double-header against Togo.
